Vermont
Before Steven and I left for our adventure around the country we talked about how this was going to give us such a great view of the country so that we could figure out where to land when we were done with our year on the road.
I had a very romantic view of what this experience would be like...I imagined driving into a town and falling in love with the landscape, the people, and the food, and dreaming of settling down in this "perfect town". My godfather wisely warned me of not letting the circumstances of a single day color my expectation of where we might settle down. I had to keep remembering this advice as we drove through the picturesque farmland in Vermont, passed through a town named "Chelsea" (I mean come on!) and ate delicious maple ice cream while visiting with generous close friends! I kid, of course, living in Chelsea would be immensely confusing. But our long weekend in Vermont did capture us in a very special way.
We had a very true experience of northern Vermont--staying with friends in their lovely cabin, helping in the garden to harvest potatoes, supporting local fundraising BBQs and visiting farms to pick up fresh cheese. For a foodie like me, it doesn't get much better than that.
Vermont is gorgeous guys! if you didn't know this already, allow me to provide proof.
The perfect end to our delightful jaunt through Vermont, was getting to put our very own home on wheels on a ferry to take it across Lake Champlain into New York.
What a crazy and wonderful experience it was to see our trailer on the water!
And now we find ourselves in Lake Placid, New York, continuing our westerly travels.
This beautiful riverfront site will be our home for the next week!
